Seitan Meatballs

Blackbird Foods Recipe

Makes 12-13 Meatballs

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 package Rosemary Garlic Blackbird Seitan (8 oz)

  • 2 tbsp Chopped Onion

  • 3 Minced Garlic Cloves

  • 2 tsp Corn Starch

  • 1 tsp Nutritional Yeast

  • Dash Salt

  • 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper

  • 1/4 tsp Oregano

  • 3/4 tsp Olive Oil

  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs

  • 4 tbsp Water

  • Oil for frying

METHOD

  1. In blender or food processor, blend Rosemary Garlic Seitan into very small pieces/crumbles. Add seitan into a medium-large bowl.

  2. Chop Onions and mince Garlic Cloves. Add into bowl with seitan. Then stir in the Corn Starch, Nutritional Yeast, Salt, Pepper, Oregano, Olive Oil, and Breadcrumbs. Once combined, mix in water one tablespoon at a time.

  3. At this point, it works best to use your hands to mash the ingredients together until you are able to shape them into balls. Use a tablespoon measuring spoon to make 12-13 meatballs and roll them into balls. Set aside.

  4. Heat a good amount of oil in frying pan. Once hot, add in the meatballs. Fry on each side for 1-2 minutes until the outside is browned and crispy. Remove from frying pan and set on plate lined with a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

  5. Serve with your favorite pasta dish or make a meatball sub!
